This role involves leading and supervising all aspects of freight operations, developing and implementing strategic work procedures, and evaluating, managing, and assigning workloads. The supervisor will oversee hourly staff, ensure production goals are met, and manage administrative functions. They will also be responsible for planning employee schedules, enforcing company policies and regulations, and ensuring timely and damage-free processing and delivery of customer freight. Additionally, the role includes coaching and developing employees, making hiring/termination recommendations, developing action plans for improvement, participating in safety committees, and training employees on safety rules. The supervisor will monitor and maintain organization within the shift for safety and productivity, conduct daily staff meetings, inspect tools and equipment, and provide suggestions for operational improvements. A key aspect is acting as a champion of XPO values and minimizing shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading methods while maintaining quality standards.
