The Freight Operations Supervisor will lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations. This role involves developing and implementing strategic work procedures, evaluating and assigning workloads, and supervising hourly staff. The supervisor will ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage, payroll, and other administrative functions, and will plan employee schedules to meet operational goals and reduce costs. They will enforce all company policies, rules, and regulations, and ensure customer freight is processed, handled, loaded, and delivered in a timely and damage-free manner. The role also includes coaching and developing employees, conducting new hire evaluations, and making recommendations regarding hiring, suspension, and termination. Additionally, the supervisor will develop action plans to improve load average and model compliance, participate in safety and engagement committees, train employees on safety, and monitor the working environment for safety and productivity. They will conduct daily staff meetings, inspect tools and equipment, and act as a champion of XPO values. A key responsibility is minimizing shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading, headloads, and sector loading while maintaining quality standards.
