This role involves leading and supervising all aspects of freight operations, developing and implementing strategic work procedures, and evaluating, managing, and assigning workloads. The supervisor will oversee hourly staff, ensure production goals are met, and plan employee schedules to meet operational demands and reduce costs. This position requires enforcing company policies, regulations, and laws, ensuring timely and damage-free processing and delivery of customer freight, and coaching employees on proper techniques and quality requirements. The supervisor will also conduct new hire evaluations, make recommendations regarding hiring and termination, and develop action plans to improve load averages and model compliance. Participation in safety and engagement committees, training employees on safety rules, and monitoring the work environment for safety and productivity are also key responsibilities. The role includes conducting daily staff meetings, inspecting tools and equipment, and providing suggestions for operational improvements. The supervisor will act as a champion of XPO values and work to minimize shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading, headloads, and sector loading while maintaining quality standards.
