About The Position

The Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of Diet Aide I and II, food production, and storeroom techs. This role involves opening/closing the department, completing required quality control and performance improvement forms, orientation, training, and evaluation of personnel. The Supervisor is also responsible for the balanced redistribution of work within the daily work force, meeting established service times, department sanitation, and communicating policies, procedures, and daily information to staff. The position requires a thorough knowledge of foods and their preparation, health hazards related to food preparation and service, and effective precautionary measures. The ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of others in a manner conducive to high productivity and morale is essential. Employees are expected to be neat, clean, and accurate. The Supervisor will also be responsible for cash handling, including counting and distributing cash banks, making cash deposits, performing cashier audits, and getting change orders. They will hold production and work group meetings, check crew sheets, and may be required to perform departmental employee labor-related functions. Additionally, the Supervisor will supervise special functions and catered events, check grocery deliveries for safety and integrity, and conduct daily visual surveillance audits to ensure compliance with food safety guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of standard practices and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of foods and their preparation.
  • Thorough knowledge of health hazards related to food preparation and service.
  • Thorough knowledge of effective precautionary measures.
  • Ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of others in a manner conductive to high productivity and morale.
  • Must be neat, clean, and accurate.

  • Completion of Dietary Manager's Course or comparable courses.
  • Supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of Diet Aide I and II, food production, and storeroom techs.
  • Opening and closing the department.
  • Completion of all required quality control and performance improvement forms.
  • Orientation, training, and evaluation of personnel.
  • Balanced redistribution of work within the daily work force.
  • Meeting established service times.
  • Ensuring department sanitation.

  • Ordering food and supplies and maintaining within budget standards.
  • Monitoring the patients trayline regularly.
  • Completing dietitian sheets (Test tray, Adopt-A-Floor, Tray Accuracy, Meal Rounds, Patient Tray Evaluations).
  • Completing patient rounding.
  • Counting and distributing cash banks, making cash deposits, and performing cashier audits.
  • Getting change orders.
  • Holding production and other work group meetings to communicate production needs and changes.
  • Checking crew sheets and redistributing work as needed.
  • Performing departmental Employee Labor related functions when needed.
  • Filling in for vacant positions when needed.
  • Supervising special functions and catered events.
  • Checking grocery deliveries for safe temperature range and package integrity.
  • Conducting daily visual surveillance audits throughout the department to ensure compliance with food safety guidelines.
  • Discarding expired product, ensuring date marking and compliance with temperature documentation.
  • Responsible for the completion of records (inventory, temperature charts, cleaning assignments, meal census, production meetings and overs & unders).
  • Performing tasks involving contact with blood, blood-contaminated body fluids, other body fluids, or sharps.
