About The Position

The Supervisor, Financial Controls position in Construction & Design Services Program Support is responsible for leading the team that creates and maintains Transmission project accounting master data, including WBS elements and work orders in SAP. This position will support E365, Program Delivery, Transmission Portfolio Development, and other business partners by ensuring project cost collectors are created accurately, timely, and in accordance with applicable FERC accounting requirements, internal policies, SOX controls, and business procedures. This position will supervise analysts and contractors responsible for Transmission cost collector creation, project accounting support, master data integrity, and ad hoc accounting research. The Supervisor will provide leadership, training, prioritization, quality review, and process oversight for a growing team that currently supports increasing Program Delivery requirements and expanding Transmission Portfolio demands. This role will also serve as a key point of contact for SOX inquiries related to Transmission-owned projects and will partner with Accounting, Project Controls, Program Delivery, Forecasting, and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate accounting treatment is applied.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or related discipline preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience required.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, financial reporting, and project accounting concepts.
  • Strong understanding of Transmission project accounting concepts, including WBS elements, work orders, settlement rules, cost flows, asset ownership, capital, removal, O&M, CIAC, and project close-out activities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead in a fast-paced environment, balance competing priorities, and support a growing team with increasing workload requirements.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across departments, including Program Delivery, Project Controls, Forecasting, Accounting, and Transmission Business Services.

  • Advanced degree is preferred.
  • Prior leadership, supervisory, team lead, or project lead experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of FERC accounting requirements is strongly preferred.
  • Utility accounting experience is preferred.
  • Experience with SOX controls, audit support, compliance inquiries, or internal control documentation is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to research complex accounting questions, interpret policies, apply judgment, and communicate recommendations clearly.
  • Working knowledge of FE-specific systems such as SAP, PowerPlan, CREWS, OPPM, Cascade, Transmission GIS, Toad Data Point, or related systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of analysts and contractors responsible for Transmission project accounting master data, WBS creation, work order creation, and related financial control activities.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate creation of Transmission project WBS elements and work orders in SAP to support E365, Program Delivery, Transmission Portfolio Development, and other business needs.
  • Ensure accounting compliance of Transmission cost collectors, including proper application of FERC accounting requirements, internal accounting policies, SOX controls, and established business procedures.
  • Serve as the primary point of coordination for SOX inquiries related to Transmission-owned projects, including researching questions, gathering support, preparing responses, and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Research FERC requirements, internal policies, asset ownership, cost flows, settlement rules, and project accounting attributes to ensure the appropriate accounting principles are applied.
  • Review and provide guidance on accounting determinations related to Operating Companies, Transmission vs. Distribution, Lines vs. Substations, voltage levels, capital, removal, O&M, CIAC, and other project accounting considerations.
  • Ensure correct project accounting settlement rules are applied and maintained for Transmission projects.
  • Support the FET Forecasting group, Project Controls, Program Delivery, and Accounting with project accounting questions, cost collector issues, CIAC activity, journal entry support, and project close-out activities.
  • Establish and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the integrity of master data in SAP, PowerPlan, and other systems used to support Transmission project accounting.
  • Monitor workload, establish priorities, assign work, and ensure the team can support growth in Program Delivery and increasing Transmission Portfolio requirements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, reporting enhancements, and standard work practices related to project accounting, financial controls, and master data governance.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve accounting questions, support audit requests, and improve consistency in cost collector creation and project financial controls.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained to support SOX compliance, accounting decisions, and internal control requirements.
  • Support ad hoc research of WBS elements, work orders, accounting attributes, project cost flows, and historical accounting decisions.
  • Collaborate with FET Finance, Program Delivery, Project Controls, Forecasting, Accounting, and other business partners.
  • Support storm activities as needed.
