About The Position

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to; providing supervision and assistance to staff in using validated mechanical, technical, physical, communication skills and experience in order to maintain a safe reliable and comfortable health care environment. Supervises the distribution of work to line staff in carrying out the daily corrective and preventative maintenance routines of the department and facilitates the work of various trades to provide for the installation, repair and maintenance of the entire facility equipment and systems and performs the same as required. Investigates parts and supplies needs and communicates with the requesting departments to facilitate the implementation of projects and routine work requests. Effectively communicates repair and maintenance issues to the Operations Manager to anticipate possible equipment failure issues. Effectively creates and maintains the work force schedule to meet the demands of the facility within budgetary allocations. Understands and stays abreast of current technological and code requirement issues in order to make the best positive contribution to patient care. Supervises the implementation of projects and aides in the education and training of all line staff, and performs other functions that may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four (4) years health care experience
  • Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing must be done as required.
  • Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

Nice To Haves

  • MECH or CHFM certification and/or accepted licensure preferred.
  • Applicable trade school education desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assists department Manager in projection for annual budget.

  • Unsafe conditions are addressed promptly.
  • Organizes and conducts appropriate facility drills.
  • Provides department staff education in Department/job specific skills and techniques.
  • Presents departmental education sessions on facility, equipment and security issues.
  • Provides technical demonstrations of work techniques for departmental staff.
  • Maintains effective quality management/improvement program to measure, assess and improve services of the department.
  • Supports the Why? Program.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary performance improvement activities.
  • Performs and Supervises the performance of all aspects of facility repair and maintenance in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Performs and supervises all aspects of plumbing and piping and is able to demonstrate appropriate techniques to line staff.
  • Performs and supervises all aspects of carpentry is able to demonstrate appropriate techniques to line staff.
  • Performs and supervises all aspects of Mechanical systems repairs and maintenance and is able to demonstrate appropriate techniques to line staff.
  • Performs and supervises all aspects of HVAC and building security systems and is able to demonstrate appropriate systems operations to line staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of facility systems to aid all staff in trouble shooting problems and understands the repair responsibilities of outside vendors on key equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining worker safety, Keeps staff aware of safety procedures and makes changes when unsafe conditions exist.
  • Responsible for facility security Responds to emergency fire situations, disaster situations, code atlas, non-emergency code man, Dr. Green, and Dr. Kid pages.
  • Supervises and Installs new equipment and systems.
  • Reviews manufacturers requirements to perform modifications to existing services using various skills from drawings, specifications and work orders and communicate installation provision to line staff.
  • Demonstrates competency in Infection Prevention and Control Practices and Policies Possesses an understanding of infection prevention and control measures designed to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
  • Maintains the standards of the infection prevention and control policies.
  • Implements and maintains isolation techniques per policy.
  • Follows hand hygiene policies and utilizes personal protective equipment as required.
