About The Position

The supervisor manages the daily operations of an assigned work unit/shop within Facilities Management (FM), including planning, organizing, supervising, and coordinating employee activities. Responsibilities include mentoring, identifying training needs, planning work schedules, assigning duties, ensuring policy adherence, and monitoring work quality and timeliness. The role involves assisting employees with problems, handling difficult customer service issues, providing budgetary input, overseeing supply and equipment purchases, initiating service agreements, and managing budgetary targets. Effective communication with customers to resolve problems proactively is essential. The supervisor ensures compliance with institutional and divisional policies and procedures, continuously examines work processes for improvements, and regulates staffing based on workload. This role is a primary change agent for staff and represents the customer's voice, coaching and developing team members for professional growth. It includes providing orientation and training, participating in personnel actions (appraisals, corrective actions, timecards), and contributing to department committees. Maintaining compliance with regulatory standards (Joint Commission, OSHA, ERTKA, FDA, ADA, etc.) and job-related skills is crucial. The position requires continuous improvement of management skills and practices. This is a limited-tenure role supporting the launch of a new company and laboratory, with an expected transition to a permanent infrastructure position within a separate, independent company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business related field and 3 years' experience supervising/leading diverse teams
  • OR Associate’s degree in business related field and 5 years’ experience supervising/leading diverse teams
  • OR High School diploma/GED and 7 years’ experience supervising/leading diverse teams.
  • Must demonstrate supervisory skills with strong leadership, team building, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel) in word processing, spreadsheet, and computer data entry skills are necessary.
  • Demonstrates excellent analytical skills, ability to and resolve issues before they become a critical issue.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field preferred.
  • Lean management and/or six sigma experience helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the daily operations of assigned work unit/shop, plans, organizes, supervises, and coordinates the activities of employees within the department of Facilities Management (FM).
  • Mentors employees, identifies and schedules training needs/opportunities, plans work schedules, assigns duties, ensures policy/system adherence, and monitors the quality and timely completion of work.
  • Assists employees with problems or with difficult customer service issues.

  • Participates in department committees, sub-committees, or task forces.
  • Maintains compliance and knowledge of standards outlined by regulatory agencies (Joint Commission, OSHA, ERTKA, FDA, ADA, etc.) and job-related skills.
  • Utilizes and effectively interacts with Division support resources.
