About The Position

This position is responsible for supervising environmental services staff. Maintain established work schedules to provide a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment. Ensure sound Infection Control Practices for internal moves driving special room requested cleanings during assigned shift by applying sound management and human relation practices.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/ GED required.
  • 3+ years of experience in environmental services or relevant area.
  • Some experience implementing and monitoring environmental services cleaning policies, procedures, and programs
  • Experience leading/monitoring teams/ resources/ timelines within the area.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, laws, and standards.
  • Proven performance in earlier role.
  • Ability to think critically, draw insights, and connect the dots. Openness to change and adapting to changing times with resilience and flexibility.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge/skills within the area on a consistent basis to solve complex problems independently
  • Able to draw insights from different sets of data and quickly understand why issues are happening. Solves problems quickly by identifying the root causes. Encourages others to see opportunities ahead amid changing circumstances, even when details are not finalized.

Monitors and maintains the highest possible sanitary standards through a clean, attractive, and safe environment. Independently triages and handles technical issues, escalating as needed. Demonstrates physical fitness and can work in a stressful environment.

  • Learns on the job and applies skills in routine tasks and activities; delivers under supervision and guidance

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to dust particles, cleaning chemicals, and organisms that cause diseases.
  • Exposure to blood and other bodily fluids.
  • The employee may be exposed to vibrations, including shaking objects or surfaces, which may cause strain on the body or extremities.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • The employee must move about the work space to access work surfaces and shelves, cabinets, drawers, and equipment that are at, below, or above the work surface.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably one year of post-high school education (Management, Business Administration, or related field) and/ or exposure to leadership training and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Environmental Services Specialists in maintaining established work schedules to provide a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment.
  • Contribute to the execution of environmental services projects and operational implementation of programs.
  • Manage space changes across campus to ensure cleaning standards are met for staff/office moves.
  • Support development and implementation of standards, policies, and procedures for Environmental Services.
  • Research new techniques for use in your area; stay updated on the latest trends in the environmental services industry.
  • Lead and supervise teams; train, mentor, and guide team members, and ensure they have the resources required to complete their assigned tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
