Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent
3 Years in Environmental Services experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of team members and management.
Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite, MS Project, PM software, and EVS software systems preferred.
Experience with typical EVS equipment/machinery.
Demonstrates strong working knowledge of the principles of environmental infection prevention and control.
Demonstrates strong working knowledge of OSHA, TJC, DOT, CDC Policy and Standard Work development/implementation.
Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 25 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10lbs. constantly.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day supervision for the EVS department under guidance of Director and/or Manager.
Ensure a consistently high level of environmental hygiene and aesthetics to patients, visitors and staff.
Responsible for daily oversight of regulatory standards, financial stewardship of department operations and collaboration with other management team members to support the department in its daily functions.
Train and develop a highly equipped and engaged Environmental Services Team using evidence-based techniques, process and mission metrics (KPIs) to ensure we provide a clean safe environment as we help save lives.
Provide supervision of staff, making sound business decisions in support of the hospital’s mission, vision and values.
Demonstrate supervision in providing an optimal environment for patient care, safety, service, and value.
Supervise the day to day operations of the department; ensure a clean safe environment and aesthetics to patients, family, visitors, physicians, nurses and staff as we help save lives.
Demonstrate working knowledge of the cleaning and disinfection principles and requirements, proper chemical, equipment usage, and labor requirements for maintenance of furniture, furnishings, interior finishes for all areas of responsibility.
Provide oversight of inventories, usage data, and ordering of consumable supplies and equipment repairs.
Prepare work and time schedules, under the direction of the Manager/Director, coordinating vacation and holiday time and reviewing daily adjustments in the work schedule.
Promote and supervise a culture of safety, hand hygiene, patient experience, as well as employee engagement and retention.
Supervise the work of subcontractors and/or EVS suppliers for the department as needed.
Adhere to all organizational safety, risk management, and infection control and prevention standards.
Promote a culture of patient safety through observation and education.
Coach team members on the chain of infection and the core principles of the transmission of infectious pathogens.
Respond to emergency calls and multiple priorities as needed to coordinate staffing changes and minimize disruption.
Conduct patient and staff interviews to evaluate service levels and promote positive public relations.
Actively participate and contribute to efforts to improve patient experience and cleanliness scores and key departmental performance metrics.
Control expenditures within sphere of approved budget objectives.
Take corrective action when variances affect budget.
