About The Position

Supervisor, Environmental Services helps provide direct leadership and guidance to staff to ensure that high level of cleanliness, quality and service is achieved and maintained. This role involves maintaining a high level of cleanliness in assigned areas, coordinating with other departments on projects and room turnovers, and potentially assisting with housekeeping and laundry during staffing shortages. The supervisor is responsible for planning and coordinating project work, ensuring staff receive proper training and education, and monitoring the use of chemicals and equipment. A proactive approach to identifying and correcting quality assurance concerns, providing individual guidance and motivation to associates, and performing Quality Assurance Inspections are key aspects of the role. The supervisor also monitors equipment, prepares disciplinary reports, participates in department safety, and ensures facility security and organization. Additionally, this role assists with The Joint Commission (TJC) compliance, may have access to medication storage areas, and participates in the staff selection process. Scheduling, revising duty lists, maintaining records, and monitoring service binders are also part of the responsibilities. The role may involve using internal applications, pagers, and other technology, and responding to concerns with urgency. Depending on location, backup assistance for timecards, evaluations, schedules, and supply management may be required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to use computer.
  • Attend all monthly departmental meetings or review meeting minutes.
  • Annually attend Infection Control and Safety In-services as specified in personnel policy.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness in assigned areas.
  • Coordinate with other departments to manage projects, room moves, and room turnovers.
  • Assign personnel to work areas or project duties.
  • Assist with coverage in housekeeping and laundry during staffing shortages, depending on location.
  • Plan and coordinate project work to ensure proper frequencies are maintained.
  • Ensure staff receive proper orientation, initial training, and ongoing education.
  • Ensure proper supply control guidelines are followed and staff are trained in chemical use.
  • Use a proactive approach to identify and correct facility quality assurance concerns.
  • Provide and monitor individual guidance and motivation to associates.
  • Ensure a high quality percentage of clean is maintained in areas of assignment.
  • Perform Quality Assurance Inspections as assigned.
  • Monitor daily equipment use, cleaning, and maintenance.
  • Ensure all equipment is clean and professional in appearance at all times.
  • Prepare associate disciplinary and variance reports and conduct follow-up investigations.
  • Participate in department safety and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Report all unsafe equipment and acts.
  • Assure that the integrity of security at the facility is maintained at all times.
  • Ensure office, storage, and closets are clean, organized, well-maintained, and professional in appearance.
  • Assist with The Joint Commission (TJC) compliance.
  • May have access to areas where medications are stored.
  • Participate in the staff selection process and interview candidates.
  • Schedule days off, holidays, and vacations, ensuring facility needs are met.
  • Review duty lists with associates periodically and ensure they are revised and current.
  • Help maintain records and ensure log books are current.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation.
  • Monitor service binders in assigned areas daily and take appropriate action to resolve concerns.
  • Respond to concerns and requests with a sense of urgency and take necessary corrective action.
  • May provide backup assistance for approving timecards, assisting with evaluations, getting schedules out, delivering and ordering supplies, depending on location.
