About The Position

The Supervisor, Distribution Operations, is accountable for the powerline crews and external contractors working on OH’s distribution system. The main focus of this position is to plan and schedule the day-to-day activities of the powerline crews in a safe and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in the industry or equivalent related utility experience
  • Minimum of three years of demonstrated supervisory experience
  • Graduate of a related technical program, CET, P.Eng and/or equivalent work experience
  • Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s Licence and a good driving record
  • Ability to understand and read substation and grid maps
  • Well versed in the IHSA Safe Work practices guide and Electrical Utility Safety Rules
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a Windows environment and associated software applications
  • Ability to work all shifts including weekends, as required

Responsibilities

  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership to a team of technicians, with responsibility for goal setting, training and development, coaching, and performance management
  • Provide safety leadership and be accountable for the health and safety of employees by ensuring work is completed safely and in compliance with all applicable legislation, rules, and policies, and by actively promoting a strong safety culture through training, investigations, corrective action, safety observations, meetings, and recognition of positive safety performance
  • Plan, organize, schedule, assign, and supervise employee and contractor activities engaged in the construction, installation, repair and maintenance of the overhead and underground electrical distribution system
  • Collaborate with the Engineering and Construction department for project planning, management, design, and material requirements
  • Ensure that materials, equipment, and vehicles are available, appropriately maintained, and properly used at all times
  • Participate in setting yearly capital and operating budgets
  • Other duties assigned by manager
