About The Position

This is a salaried position responsible for overseeing crop care activities within a greenhouse environment. The role involves ensuring all necessary tasks for crop growth are completed efficiently, training and motivating workers, and maintaining greenhouse standards. The supervisor will also be involved in seasonal activities, coordinating with other departments, resolving workplace issues, and reporting on quality and safety.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent required.
  • At least two years of Supervisory experience required.
  • Literacy with MS Office products and internet navigation.
  • Physically capable of regular greenhouse activities – including walking, lifting, bending, and withstanding periods of high heat.
  • Effective verbal and written communication in English.
  • Ability to take leadership role and display personal initiative.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with/manage 30+ workers.
  • General understanding or ability to be trained on the Hortimax/FS labor system or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure GH work (lowering, pruning, picking, etc.) is completed in a timely and productive manner.
  • Train and keep workers motivated by spending one-on-one time to ensure greenhouse standards are met.
  • Be available to supervise yearly activities such as clean-out and planting of new crops.
  • Establish work schedules and procedures and coordinate activities with other departments under the guidance of the Labor Manager.
  • Resolve work-related issues using company procedures, including the progressive disciplinary process.
  • Prepare and submit quality reports to the Labor Manager.
  • Be familiar with and enforce all Health and Food Safety guidelines within the greenhouse.
  • Complete necessary Health and Food Safety Paperwork as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
