About The Position

Develops, implements, and supervises clinical services provided by a team or unit; directly supervises team or unit personnel. This role involves participating in the development of unit goals and objectives, supervising staff in the design and implementation of treatment plans, and managing the unit budget. The position also includes conducting staff meetings, developing training sessions, and overseeing client evaluations. Additionally, the supervisor monitors facility conditions, may perform direct clinical services, and participates in grant writing and program review activities. Ensuring adherence to agency policies and procedures, orienting, training, and evaluating staff are key responsibilities. The role also serves as a liaison between staff and management, participates in public relations, and plans new services. Clinical supervision for case consultation and staffing, as well as taking crisis calls and providing backup in emergencies, are also part of the duties. A significant aspect is coordinating care within a trauma-informed framework, facilitating communication between medical and behavioral health practitioners, assisting with scheduling health interventions, integrating treatment, and educating individuals/families on the interplay of physical and behavioral health.

Requirements

• Master's degree in social work, psychology, or related field and one year of experience providing direct services to the specific target population including one year full-time administrative/supervisory experience
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field and three years of experience providing direct services to the specific target population including one year full-time administrative/supervisory experience
• If an unrelated bachelor’s degree, required 3 years of direct experience in behavioral health services.
• Associate’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field and seven years of experience providing direct services to the specific target population including one year full-time administrative/supervisory experience
• Possession of an RN License from the State of Arizona and 3 years of clinical experience in a community mental health or psychiatric setting.
• Must be licensed or certified.
• Administrative ability to develop and implement program objectives.
• Demonstrated ability to work on a multi-disciplinary team and with the public.
• Considerable academic and experiential knowledge of the principles and practices of modes of psychotherapy, especially crisis intervention and short-term models using individual, families, and group approaches.
• Skill in training others to conduct various modes of psychotherapy.
• Demonstrated skill in assessment, diagnostic evaluation, therapeutic treatment, and case management practices, including follow-up and closure.
• Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of community mental health, alcohol, or substance abuse services.
• Considerable knowledge of psychopathology and psychotherapeutic techniques.
• Considerable knowledge of the cultural characteristics of various minority groups.
• Knowledge of, and experience in management and supervisory functions, including supervision of cases and records.
• Demonstrated ability to orient, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
• Academic and experiential knowledge and skill in program and research planning, development, and implementation of services for special populations.
• Some knowledge of budgetary control procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Availability to work evening hours
• Possession of a valid Arizona driver's license, must be able to drive for the company

Responsibilities

• Participates in the development of unit goals and objectives and monitors progress toward achievement of established goals and objectives for long-term and short-term programs.
• Supervises staff in the design, implementation, and assessment of treatment plans for clients.
• Participates in the development of the unit budget and regularly monitors revenues and expenditures to ensure compliance with the budget.
• Conducts team/staff meetings and participates in appropriate administrative, supervisory, and clinical team meetings including weekly team meetings, daily shift changes meetings and clinical program planning meetings.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates in-service training sessions for unit staff for all shifts.
• Provides supervision of client evaluations, including screening and initial intake.
• Monitors the condition of agency facilities to provide an appropriate treatment environment for clients and staff and recommends needed improvements.
• May perform assessment, diagnostic evaluation, crisis intervention, case management, and therapeutic services for individuals, families, and groups.
• Participates in grant writing, contract compliance, and program review activities by collecting, compiling, evaluation, and reporting information and evaluation data.
• Ensures that agency policies and procedures are adhered to by those supervised.
• Orients, trains, supervise, and evaluate staff.
• Ensures that policies, procedures, and quality assurance standards are implemented.
• Serves as liaison in communicating information both from staff to management and from management to staff.
• Participates in public relations activities and acts as clinical liaison with the community and other agency components.
• Plans, develops, and implements new services or modifications to existing services, as approved by the Board.
• Provides clinical supervision for case consultation and case staffing.
• Participates in case consultations, case staffing, and monitoring of caseloads.
• Takes crisis calls on designated nights and weekends.
• Provides back-up support and decision-making in emergency situations.
• May, if a Registered nurse, administer client medication as directed by medical staff.
• Coordinate all care and services required to enhance and facilitate the optimal physical and behavioral health wellness of persons served within a trauma-informed care framework. This includes: 1) facilitating communication between medical and behavioral health practitioners/systems; 2) assisting with scheduling of and compliance with preventative and specialty physical health interventions; 3) integrating treatment interventions to address both the physical and behavioral health needs of the person/family concurrently; 4) assist persons/families served with education and resources outlining the interplay of physical and behavioral health issues on overall wellness and quality of life.
