Central Sterile Service, Evening Supervisor
About The Position
Sentara is hiring a Supervisor, Central Sterile Service Technician at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. This role involves supervising and coordinating staff and daily operations for decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storing, and distributing all instruments handled by Central Sterile Services. The supervisor will ensure staff compliance with sterilization techniques, policies, and procedures, function as a leader, preceptor, and educator, and manage department inventory and equipment. Collaboration with the surgical team is key for timely delivery of sterile instruments. The role also assists leadership with compliance to local, state, and federal healthcare regulations and standards, and involves developing and implementing training programs for new and current staff.
Requirements
- HSD/GED REQUIRED
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Certification - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)
- 3 years related CSS, sterilization, or central sterile processing experience REQUIRED
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the staff and daily operations to include decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storing, and distributing all instruments handled by Central Sterile Services.
- Assembles and disassembles case carts.
- Ensures staff compliance with sterilization techniques, policies and procedures.
- Functions as a leader, preceptor and educator.
- Manages and maintains department inventory and equipment.
- Collaborates with surgical team to coordinate timely delivery of sterile instruments for surgeries and procedures.
- Assist leader with compliance to ensure the department complies with all local, state and federal healthcare regulations and standards.
- Develop and implement training programs for new staff and ongoing education for current team members.
