About The Position

The Supervisor, Central Sterile Processing supervises and participates in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. This position oversees staffing and provides direction and support to department staff to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations. Ensures the development of staff by providing orientation and continuing education programs. Assists in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures. Provides for the maintenance of necessary supplies and equipment. Assists in achieving compliance with accrediting and licensing requirements. Serves as a liaison with operating room and other departments. Recommends quality and performance improvement initiatives. Demonstrates knowledge of and follows departmental and medical center policies and procedures. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license
  • Hold one of the following certifications: CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician), IAHCSMM CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician), CBSPD CST (Certified Surgical Technician), NBSTSA
  • BLS certification is required from the American Heart Association
  • Minimum 3 years of experience
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others.
