About The Position

The Department of Transportation is seeking a Supervisor Carpenter for its Facilities Maintenance unit. This is a transfer opportunity; candidates must be serving permanently in the title of Supervisor Carpenter to be considered. The role supervises and directs carpenters working on in-house construction projects at industrial DOT properties and performs related work.

Requirements

• Must be serving permanently in the title of Supervisor Carpenter to be considered for this transfer opportunity.
• Seven years of recent, satisfactory, full-time, paid experience as a carpenter, including at least two years performing supervisory duties; or a satisfactory equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assign and lay out jobs for carpenters and closely allied workers.
• Supervise, direct, and inspect carpentry work involving installation or replacement of flooring, doors, building hardware, trim, window frames, sashes, partitions, and related items.
• Estimate job requirements from plans and specifications or field surveys.
• Requisition materials and equipment.
• Supervise and direct the proper operation of departmental carpentry shops.
• When required, lay out and supervise heavy and rough carpentry work for construction, maintenance, and repair of shoring, bulkheads, scaffolds, dock facilities, construction sheds, promenades, and related structures.
• Keep records and prepare reports.
