Key Position Details: 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period) 8-hour day shifts No weekends Primary location is United Hospital; however the position is anticipated to support both United Hospital and Abbott Northwestern Hospital, with an expected 50/50 split between the two locations based on business needs

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in Nursing or related field
  • 3+ years of hospital or clinic Registered Nurse experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required if working in MN upon hire
  • Licensed Registered Nurse - WI Dept of Safety & Professional Services required if working in WI upon hire
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association OR Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross OR Allina in-house BLS training (within 90 days of hire)

  • Project management and initiative experience
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • 2+ years hospital or clinic registered nurse experience in cardiovascular specialty
  • ACLS Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordination and supervision of daily operations
  • Supervises and understands the scope of practice of patient care delivery by care team members.
  • Participates in daily huddles to ensure nursing and clinical care team members have the equipment, tools and resources required for patient care and to accomplish clinical objectives.
  • Hires, manages, leads and engages team members to effectively drive performance to support patient care and clinical objectives.
  • Ensures effective orientation processes and clinical training to enable team members to operate at the top of their licensure or certification for optimal clinical outcomes.
  • Builds and retains engaged team by utilizing employee engagement data, tools and methods.
  • Supports and manages staff volumes.
  • Participates in the development and management of the clinical operations budget and capital requests.
  • May manage a remote and/or onsite workforce.
  • Patient experience, clinical quality and safety leadership and support
  • Partners with site leadership to develop, implement and evaluate patient care delivery processes.
  • Utilizes patient experience and feedback to inform improvements and immediate recovery as needed.
  • Empowers and supports care team members to resolve patient complaints and concerns; creates a culture of service recovery.
  • Supports an environment to achieve quality goals by identifying and removing barriers, communicating changes, and ensuring training and development of staff.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and safety requirements, integrity and confidentiality of patient information and data, and maintains a safe environment for staff and patients.
  • Partners with the safety lead to conduct or observe drills, evaluate staff preparedness and proactively address gaps.
  • Continuous process improvement
  • Utilizes process improvement methodologies to drive clinical outcomes.
  • Creates a culture of continuous process improvement by empowering staff to identify issues and develop solutions.
  • Participates and/or leads deployment of system-wide initiatives utilizing effective change management and performance management methodologies.
  • Nursing
  • Comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identification of outcomes based on needs assessment; establishing the plan of care; supervising the progress; and modification of the plan of care as needed.
  • Maintains education and competencies to remain proficient to provide high quality patient care practice and skills, specifically as Nurse Clinician in Cardiovascular specialty.
  • Incorporates evidence-based nursing practice taking into consideration current statutes, rules and regulations when developing the plan of care.
  • Establishes, in the collaboration with the family and patient, realistic and measurable patient expected outcomes based on nursing diagnoses, patients present and potential capabilities, goals, available resources and plan for continuity of care.
  • Identifies outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
  • Coordinates, collaborates, and delegates appropriately to ensure care is provided in a safe, effective fashion.
