About The Position

Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital (MVH) is a 121-bed, community-based teaching hospital that has been serving the medical needs of the community and region since its founding in 1891. Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital provides inpatient, critical care and ambulatory services. The Hospital is part of Montefiore Health System, a premier academic medical center and the University Hospital system for Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital is a New York State-designated Stroke Center and HIV/AIDS Center, and it is home to the Beale Chronic Wound Treatment and Hyperbaric Center and the Montefiore School of Nursing.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or closely related field.
NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license.
Minimum of six years’ experience in an approved Clinical Blood Bank Laboratory.
Familiar with all Blood Bank regulatory agency requirements.
Complete working knowledge of all equipment and procedure use.
Excellent communication, organizational and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

Reviews current technical procedures and methodologies and recommends changes as needed.
Monitors the performance characteristics of the analytical equipment and preventative maintenance program.
Reviews procedure manual for accuracy and compliance with current regulatory requirements.
Provides assistance, guidance and expertise to the medical staff in regard to the section’s procedures, interpretation of test results and recommendation on test procedures.
Prepares and evaluates regular and standing orders for supplies.
Physician and hospital staff interactive communication.
Development, training and evaluation of all blood bank employee personnel.
Scheduling staff, ordering supplies and scheduling couriers.
