About The Position

Under the direction of the Coordinator of Student Access and Achievement, the Supervisor, Black Student Achievement Program serves as an advocate for Black/African American students and families. By partnering with administrators, school staff, students, families, and community partners, they identify and remove barriers, maximizing opportunities for student achievement and well-being.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Three years of experience working with Black/African American youth and families which includes experience holding leadership roles or leading programs or projects.

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, social sciences, or a related field.
• Experience in a PreK-12 public school system.
• Experience designing and delivering professional learning for educators and support staff.
• Experience analyzing data related to educational outcomes.
• Experience working on equity, advocacy, or related projects.
• Experience working with community organizations or government agencies.
• Prior supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and provides program oversight and leadership for the Black Student Achievement Program (BSAP) Liaisons to ensure systemic educational equity and data-driven decision-making that best serve Black/African American students and families.
• Provides leadership for implementing strategies that are data driven and research-based to accelerate academic achievement and promote healthy social-emotional well-being for Black/African American students.
• Supervises, manages, provides program oversight and leadership for the Beyond School Hours programming such as the BSAP Summer Institute, BSAP Saturday Math Academy, and BSAP Community Based Learning Centers.
• Collaborates with other internal offices to ensure alignment of district curriculum within Beyond School Hours programming.
• Facilitates the engagement of Black/African American families and the community in the educational process through workshops or seminars, as needed, in collaboration with school staff and representatives from community organizations.
• Leads the planning and coordination of acknowledging and celebrating the achievements of Black/African American students, specifically the Celebration of Academic Achievement and the Celebration of Excellence in partnership with The Council of Elders of the Black Community of Howard County.
• Provides or coordinates relevant professional learning for school-based and central office personnel related to cultural competency, academic, social, and emotional learning needs of Black/African American students to accelerate their academic achievement.
• Manages BSAP evaluations, data analysis, and reporting processes.
