The Supervisor, Advanced Practice Providers supervises advanced practice providers (APPs) (i.e., Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants etc.). Key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, onboarding and mentorship of new staff, development, review, and implementation of unit specific competencies, and annual evaluations. This role also works directly with staff, administration, medical directors, and other relevant stakeholders to assure appropriate utilization of all APPs. The Supervisor, Advanced Practice Providers provides advocacy to all APPs and integrates current knowledge of professional issues, trends in health care and technological advances into scope of practice. This position participates in the collection of research data and quality improvement of patient care within the acute and outpatient care areas. Department Specific Functions Maintain direct communication with cardiology attending physicians. Work under the direct supervision of cardiologists. Collaborate with other departments to improve patient care and coordinate procedures. Maintain a collaborative working relationship with department leadership to enhance department operation. Adhere to all cardiology department stress testing policies and protocols. Provide support to sonographers/cardiac ultrasound technologists, and stress test techs during stress testing and echocardiograms, including IV placement and medical management when required. Contact all patients scheduled for stress procedures or any other procedure requiring a medical provider the day prior to their exam to ensure proper medication management. Perform/Supervise all stress testing procedures and/or any other procedures in cardiology lab requiring a medical provider. Manage patient care during stress testing and contrast procedures. Coordinate and facilitate the transfer of cardiology lab patients to the hospital for continued care when necessary. Complete accurate and timely documentation for all cardiology lab procedures, transfers, or incident reports. Communicates with medical providers through electronic medical records, email, or telephone. Reports patient critical value to interpreting provider and supervising cardiologist. Conduct peer-to-peer reviews for clinical and insurance purposes. Oversee daily cardiology lab operations. Supervise cardiology lab staff, including participation in hiring, competency assessments, performance evaluations, training coordination, and other administrative responsibilities. Perform additional duties as assigned based on departmental needs.
