This position creates and implements resident activities and events. Manages activity staff schedules and coordinates volunteer staffing and activities. The role involves creating and viewing resident care plans around activities, completing activity assessments and Minimum Data Set (MDS) questions, and reporting problems and concerns to leadership. The Supervisor communicates department activities to employees, demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strives to improve the quality of life for residents by providing appropriate, meaningful activities and interventions. The monthly activity calendar is administered, and resident input is regularly elicited. Activities are kept organized and upbeat, following state-required activities such as music, craft, and spiritual activities. The role includes participating in activities like fishing, nature walks, pet therapy, and music therapy to support residents and ensure they function at an optimal level while maintaining dignity and identity. Assistance with simple nursing procedures and transporting residents is also part of the role. The Supervisor demonstrates leadership abilities, including developing and motivating people, and possesses the ability to work with strong-willed residents and/or behavioral issues. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills are maintained, and responsibilities are prioritized while working autonomously. The utilization of resources and design of work processes are planned and overseen.
