About The Position

At Bama, an Accounting Supervisor has broad oversight responsibilities for company financial processes and procedures. Within this space the Accounting Supervisor provides stewardship and guidance, acting as a resource to process owners and business partners. This person is responsible for maintaining financial records with the utmost accuracy, and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Accounting Supervisor is a principal contact for BCI's and Bama Foods' external audits, tax work, and for other accounting related inquiries including contact with company operations personnel, supply chain, and information services. This position is responsible to stakeholders for execution of more complex general accounting functions and shareholder matters, and provides information to the Company's external tax consultants for preparation of quarterly and annual returns. In addition, this person should be a business partner, able to participate in, and contribute to meetings, projects, and planning sessions. The Accounting Supervisor should have a mindset of ownership and accountability requiring minimal supervision and guidance in carrying out daily duties. The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for the assessment of existing internal controls, and recommending additional internal controls as systems and processes evolve. Special projects, that span a broad level of analysis and execution from department level to companywide which are focused on Bama's future picture, may occupy a significant portion of this person's duties from time to time. The Accounting Supervisor will also focus on financial planning and analysis related duties from time to time. The position will help drive change to achieve company and departmental goals through employee development, technological advances, and process improvements. Integrity, good judgement and independence are critical requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting with 3-5years experience
  • CPA, MBA, or CPA eligibility
  • Working knowledge of AP, AR, FA, PY and General Accounting
  • Good Understanding of Accounting Software and ERP System (Inifinium, PRISM)
  • Problem Solving Skills (critical thinking)
  • Effective Communication Skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point
  • Trained/Retrained in Deming, Covey, Principle Centered Leadership
  • Experience with ERP/GL system (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred)
