The New Yorker is seeking a Supervising Video Producer to screen film submissions, produce, shoot, and edit videos that support the magazine’s visual storytelling. This is a hands-on editing and production role that also provides opportunities to develop original videos and recurring series in collaboration with New Yorker writers and editors. In addition to overseeing day-to-day production, scheduling, and shepherding projects through the editorial process, the Supervising Producer plays a key creative role in working directly with filmmakers and shaping the voice and style of The New Yorker’s video storytelling. The role requires meticulous organizational skills and a systems-oriented mindset when it comes to establishing and maintaining video workflows. The applicant should have sound journalistic judgment, technical fluency, and a deep understanding of The New Yorker’s tone and approach to storytelling. The successful candidate will have exceptional editing and production skills; the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines; experience with documentary and journalistic storytelling; and a strong understanding of emerging video formats, techniques, and social platforms. They should bring a collaborative approach to working with writers, editors, filmmakers, and production teams, along with a portfolio that demonstrates creativity, resourcefulness, and excellence across a range of formats, including short news pieces, cinematic documentaries, and recurring video series. This is a Guild position.
