About The Position

The State of Connecticut, Department of Correction (DOC) is seeking to fill multiple positions for a highly motivated and experienced Psychologist to join our behavioral health clinical leadership team as a Supervising Psychologist 1 (Clinical). This recruitment will be used to fill three (3) active first-shift vacancies, one in East Lyme, one in Enfield, and one in Suffield, CT. We anticipate additional future vacancies at our other facilities throughout the next year and encourage those who are experienced and interested in making a positive impact amongst our incarcerated population to apply! Supervising psychologists work within a dynamic, fast-paced, multidisciplinary team comprised of social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists and APRNs, as well as medical personnel and custody staff, all sharing the common goal of providing high quality, service-oriented care to our incarcerated populations. Supervising Psychologists within the correctional setting provide a range of clinical, administrative and supervisory functions to persons in custody. In this role, you will work within a clinically rich setting, with opportunities to provide a mix of clinical, supervisory and administrative functions. The Department of Correction shall strive to be a leader in progressive correctional practices and partnered re-entry initiatives to support responsive evidence-based practices geared toward supporting reintegration and reducing recidivism under the Department's supervision. Requirements

  • Doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology
  • Two (2) years of postdoctoral experience as a licensed clinical psychologist
  • Possess and retain a license to practice psychology in Connecticut
  • Possess and maintain eligibility for participation in federal health care programs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with forensic or justice involved clients
  • Experience supervising Psychologists and/or Licensed Mental Health professionals
  • Experience working within a bargaining unit workplace
  • Fluent in a foreign language or proficient in the use of the American Sign Language
  • Willing to travel

Responsibilities

  • Manage staff scheduling and coverage
  • Provide clinical supervision and lead multidisciplinary clinical teams
  • Conduct psychological testing, deliver individual psychotherapy and implement behavior management strategies
  • Provide clinical consultative services within the facility for complex cases
  • Engage in collaborative care planning with external support services
  • Engage in research driven programming
  • Supervises a major independent clinical psychology program
  • Plans, develops, implements and coordinates new service programs
  • Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews the work of staff
  • Provides staff training and assistance
  • Conducts performance evaluations
  • Determines priorities and plans program work
  • Establishes and maintains program procedures
  • Develops or makes recommendations on development of policies and standards
  • Acts as liaison with other operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding program policies and procedures
  • Selects and administers a variety of objective and projective psychodiagnostic tests
  • Evaluates individuals level of function and supervises staff in development of individualized treatment plans
  • Provides consultation on complex cases
  • Addresses professional and lay groups
  • May design, implement and direct psychological research programs
  • Performs related duties as required
