About The Position

Here’s the Scoop is NBC News’ daily audio and video podcast delivering sharp, fact‑based journalism on the stories driving the news cycle. We are seeking a Supervising Producer to provide senior‑level editorial leadership and operational oversight for the show’s daily production. The Supervising Producer plays a critical role in ensuring the podcast is editorially strong, consistently executed, and produced on deadline each day. This position helps to oversee daily workflows and partners closely with the Executive Producer to uphold NBC News’ editorial standards, voice, and mission.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in audio journalism, podcasting, or digital news production.
  • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to work effectively under daily deadlines.
  • Proven writing and editing skills for audio storytelling.
  • Familiarity with professional audio and video production tools and workflows (e.g., Descript, Riverside, Pro Tools).
  • Experience working in a newsroom or standards‑driven editorial environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily editorial and production execution of Here’s the Scoop, from morning planning through publication.
  • Lead daily editorial planning, shaping rundowns and assigning stories in coordination with the Executive Producer.
  • Edit and approve scripts, host copy, and final mixes to ensure accuracy, clarity, tone, and editorial integrity.
  • Maintain a consistent editorial voice and pacing across episodes, including during breaking news coverage.
  • Oversee the show when the Executive Producer is out.
  • Ensure all content adheres to NBC News editorial standards, legal requirements, and journalistic best practices.
  • Flag potential standards or legal concerns and coordinate reviews as needed prior to publication.
  • Uphold rigorous fact‑checking, sourcing, attribution, and correction practices.
  • Own the show’s daily production workflow, ensuring efficiency, accountability, and on‑time delivery.
  • Coordinate closely with hosts, engineers, and show leadership on taping schedules and turnaround.
  • Anticipate and manage daily challenges, including breaking news, staffing changes, and technical issues.
  • Partner with marketing, PR, and platform teams to support episode launches, special coverage, and promotional needs.
  • Serve as a key point of contact between the Here’s the Scoop team and senior editorial leadership.
  • Collaborate with other NBC News editorial desks and audio teams as needed.
  • Represent the show in internal meetings when delegated by the Executive Producer.
