About The Position

T&M Associates is seeking a Supervising Municipal Engineer to join their Municipal Department in Toms River, NJ. This leadership role involves overseeing a team of engineers and managing a portfolio of capital improvement projects across various municipal sectors. The position is hybrid, offering a flexible work environment with a mix of remote and in-office collaboration. The ideal candidate should possess extensive experience in municipal engineering, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record in managing both technical and client-facing project aspects.

Requirements

  • B.S in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in Civil Engineering, including project management for design and construction projects.
  • Must have Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience in reviewing applications for Land Use Boards with availability for Municipal (Land Use Board, Council and/or Committee) night meetings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, self-starter, demonstrated organization skills, team player and willingness to learn.
  • New Hires must have documents indicating they are eligible to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Planner (PP) license a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of municipal engineers, providing guidance, technical support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Oversee the preparation of engineering documents for municipal projects, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates for roadway, drainage, sewer, water, parks, and athletic fields improvements.
  • Manage multiple high-priority projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct or oversee field inspections of infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with design standards and local regulations.
  • Review municipal site plans, zoning applications, and subdivisions, preparing detailed technical reports and recommendations for Planning & Zoning Boards.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with municipal clients, offering proactive communication and problem-solving expertise to ensure client satisfaction.
