The Assigned Counsel Plan (ACP) provides quality legal services to indigent persons charged with criminal offenses. These services are funded by the City of New York through the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) and overseen by the 1st and 2nd Appellate Division Departments. The ACP compensates private attorneys who are assigned matters by the Court and the Administrator's office when institutional providers have a conflict. The MOCJ advises the Mayor on criminal justice policy and implements citywide strategies to reduce crime, unnecessary arrests, and incarceration, while improving system fairness. The Supervisory Attorney will oversee ACP attorneys representing clients in Criminal and Supreme Courts in New York City, assisting in their professional development through technical assistance and guidance.
