Temporary Supervising Attorney, Long Island

Safe Passage ProjectLong Island City, NY
Hybrid

About The Position

Safe Passage Project (SPP) is a nonprofit immigration legal services organization dedicated to providing free legal representation to immigrant children facing deportation. Founded in 2013, SPP has grown significantly, managing over 1,600 cases annually and supporting thousands of young people in New York City and Long Island. Recognizing that immigrant children are not provided with government-funded legal representation, SPP bridges this gap, as legal representation dramatically increases the likelihood of a positive outcome in immigration court. The organization achieves this through direct representation by staff attorneys and by training, mentoring, and supervising a network of pro bono attorneys. The Temporary Supervising Attorney will join a team of public interest attorneys to directly impact the lives of immigrant children seeking safety and security. This role involves supervising a team of attorneys and a paralegal in providing legal representation in immigration and related proceedings, including asylum and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status cases. The Supervising Attorney will also directly represent minors and mentor pro bono attorneys.
