About The Position

Domtar is a leader in the production of pulp, paper, packaging, tissue paper, and wood products. The Gatineau pulp and paper mill has a rich history. We use a unique process to produce the thermomechanical pulp used in newsprint manufacturing. We source residual wood chips from sawmills. Additionally, we have a cogeneration facility that produces 15 MWh of electricity. We are an employer deeply connected to our 135 employees, our primary resource, of whom we are proud. Requirements

  • DEC or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience in Electricity and/or Instrumentation.
  • Proven experience in personnel supervision.
  • Leadership qualities and managerial courage with a strong focus on Health and Safety.
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with employees.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, rigor, and ability to support the organization in its continuous improvement process.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office suite computer tools. (SAP is an asset)

Responsibilities

  • Support and apply the company's values in health and safety, quality, and environment, and enforce current regulations and policies.
  • Work in close cooperation with all departments.
  • Supervise multiple electrical projects on a daily, weekly, and major shutdown basis.
  • Foster employee participation and create a work environment conducive to achieving objectives through communication, delegation, teamwork, and recognition of good results.
  • Ensure continuous improvement and participate in the problem-solving process.
  • Develop and optimize maintenance procedures while promoting the implementation of new initiatives.
  • Establish priorities based on the weekly schedule and unplanned requests.
  • Ensure uniform application of the collective agreement.
  • Perform on-call duties and be available at atypical hours for emergency or planned shutdowns.
  • Be innovative and seek to apply new ways of doing things.
  • Ensure the team has all necessary resources to accomplish their tasks (equipment, PPE, tools, etc.).
  • Ensure the work environment is clean and well-organized.
  • Prepare and update the technicians' schedule (shifts, leave, vacation, lateness, etc.).
  • Perform all other related tasks.
