The main role of the maintenance supervisor is to oversee planned maintenance work to ensure it is of quality, done safely and efficiently at a lower cost to maximize equipment availability and optimize its reliability.

Requirements

  • DEP in industrial mechanics, DEC in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technologist, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of experience in supervising mechanical work execution.
  • Extensive experience in heavy equipment repair; experience in asset inspection.
  • Microsoft Suite and SAP.
  • Good communicator (oral and written).
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to interact with cement plant personnel.
  • 10% travel requirement.
  • In-depth knowledge of preventive maintenance.
  • Proven experience in executing major work and plant shutdowns.
  • Knowledge of labor law and personnel management rules.
  • Experience with computerized mechanical maintenance systems and the maintenance management module in SAP.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and the appropriate use of Amrize-approved personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators. Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face to pass qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and ensure compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Review the weekly schedule, assign work to plant mechanics and review it.
  • Perform maintenance tasks in compliance with the highest standards for safety, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns to ensure quick repairs.
  • Continuously report on maintenance performance during major work and recommend corrective actions.
  • Supervise plant mechanics, as well as subcontractors joining the work teams.
  • Manage conditions under the collective agreement fairly, firmly, and consistently.
  • Coordinate the training of plant mechanics, including mentoring apprentices.
  • Participate in the cement plant's on-call system.
  • Investigate, report, and implement corrective measures for all incidents and near misses.
