About The Position

The Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day field leadership and execution of assigned mechanical construction projects, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and industrial systems installations. This role oversees field personnel, subcontractors, project safety, quality, productivity, and scheduling to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and in accordance with company standards. The Superintendent works closely with Project Managers, Foremen, Fabrication, and other project stakeholders to coordinate field operations, resolve issues, and maintain strong client relationships throughout the life of the project. The ideal candidate is an experienced field leader with strong mechanical construction knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead crews while maintaining a safe and productive jobsite.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of field experience in mechanical contracting, HVAC, plumbing, piping, or industrial construction.
  • Previous experience as a Foreman or Superintendent on commercial or industrial projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction sequencing, and installation practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, schedules, and construction documents.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and jobsite safety practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage field operations on assigned projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman trade background preferred.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Experience with healthcare, industrial, manufacturing, mission-critical, or large commercial construction projects.
  • Experience coordinating with prefabrication and BIM/VDC teams.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee daily field operations on assigned project.
  • Supervise Foremen, field employees, subcontractors, and trade partners.
  • Coordinate daily work activities to maintain project schedules and productivity goals.
  • Ensure labor, equipment, and materials are effectively utilized.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate schedule updates and field issues to the Project Manager.
  • Resolve day-to-day installation challenges and field conflicts.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager, Fabrication, BIM/VDC, and office staff to support successful project execution.
  • Participate in project planning, turnover meetings, scheduling, and coordination meetings.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and project schedules to ensure proper installation.
  • Verify that materials, tools, equipment, and manpower are available to support project activities.
  • Coordinate inspections and ensure work complies with project requirements.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on the jobsite.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and client safety requirements.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and jobsite inspections.
  • Report incidents promptly and participate in investigations and corrective actions.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Ensure all work is installed in accordance with project plans, specifications, codes, and company quality standards.
  • Monitor workmanship and productivity of field personnel.
  • Identify and resolve quality issues before project completion.
  • Manage punch list activities and support project closeout.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve field efficiency and workflow.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Foremen and field personnel.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Assist with employee training and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a positive work environment focused on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with owners, general contractors, inspectors, architects, and subcontractors.
  • Represent the company professionally during jobsite meetings and inspections.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and solutions with project stakeholders.
