About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Superintendent overseeing construction projects managed from WSP's Syracuse, NY office. The role involves providing construction management inspection for multi-trade contracts to ensure projects are constructed in conformance with contract requirements. The Superintendent will monitor work and materials for quality control, ensure timely decisions to keep projects on schedule and within budget, and perform inspections and prepare construction reports. This position requires maintaining a daily log of project progress, identifying and resolving problems, monitoring contractor safety, and exercising responsible and ethical decision-making. Additional responsibilities may be required by business needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of 9 years experience with 6 years of experience in construction involving multiple phases of large-scale building/rehabilitation projects, including supervision.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a Superintendent or Inspector on large scale, multi-contract building project.
  • Ability to develop and communicate a project work plan, monitor manpower and performance against that work plan, and be able to perform a detailed comparison of the design drawings against each other to ensure coordination between each of the various project trades.
  • Strong communications skills and a collaborative approach working with both client and construction contractor/subcontractors.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • OSHA – 30
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide construction management inspection for multi-trade contracts to ensure the project is constructed in conformance with the contract requirements.
  • Monitor work and materials to ensure quality control standards are met at various stages of the project and coordinate with Regional Code Officer.
  • Ensuring that timely decisions are made to keep projects on schedule and within budgeted costs while meeting clients' needs.
  • Perform inspections, prepare construction reports and expedite the execution of contracts and supervise inspectors.
  • Maintain a written daily log of project progress, actions performed, contractor's workforce, materials approvals and deliveries and issues on the job site.
  • Identify and resolve problems and conflicts, conduct meetings and communicate with team members in various roles as necessary.
  • Monitor contractor safety operations and coordinate with Regional Safety Manager as needed.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
