About The Position

Hill Construction Company is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic full-time Project Superintendent to join their dynamic Los Angeles team. As a critical component of the team, the Superintendent will work alongside Project Managers and Project Engineers to deliver high-quality homes. This role requires extensive custom-building experience, acute attention to detail, and the ability to deliver a positive client experience. The Superintendent is responsible for managing, directing, supervising, and coordinating the day-to-day construction operations of their projects.

Requirements

  • 10 + years of experience managing, directing, supervising, and coordinating the construction operations of high-end custom residential construction.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of project schedules, budgets, subcontractor scopes, quality control, field safety, and building codes.
  • Must be able to provide direction and resolve problems amongst multiple subcontractors and vendors simultaneously.
  • Ability to read/interpret construction plans and identify design deficiencies, impractical details, and possible code violations.
  • Ability to communicate with project owners, architects, and team clearly, effectively, and calmly.
  • Must be able to communicate using phone and computer.
  • Must have the endurance and strength to consistently walk the entire job site, including stairs or elevated structures.
  • Must be able to manage difficult and emotional client situations and respond promptly and courteously to client needs.
  • Must maintain confidentiality.
  • Must project and promote positive morale.

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods, walk job sites with ease, and bend/stoop as needed.
  • Ability to lift or maneuver boxes without accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site coordination and supervision of all construction operations of their project.
  • Open the job site at the beginning of the day and secure the job site at the end of the day.
  • Ensure the project is constructed in strict accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Schedule subcontractors, vendors, and consultants in the critical path to ensure timely completion.
  • Ensure the subcontractor is fully executing and complying with its contracted scope of work.
  • Identify areas of work that are outside of the subcontractor scope.
  • Adhere to and implement Quality Control on all work being performed.
  • Communicate with the project team regarding RFIs and material submittments.
  • Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions.
  • Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to the project team for resolution.
  • Maintain a written daily log with photos of activities on the job site.
  • Maintain 3-week look ahead schedules and work with Project Managers and Project Engineers to update schedules and forecast any upcoming delays.
  • Ensure the job site is kept in a clean and organized manner and up to safety standards.
  • Perform completion punch list identification and completion.
  • Deliver a managed and positive client experience.
