About The Position

The Nuna Group of Companies is accepting resumes for Superintendents with large earthworks construction / mining project experience. We are seeking experienced leaders with the knowledge and skills to manage large civil earthworks projects in the mining and heavy civil sectors. Ideal candidates will have progressed to a Superintendent role through prior experience as an equipment operator and foreman. Experience leading teams of up to 50 workers, including heavy equipment operators, labourers, and field staff. Strong teamwork, communication, and coaching skills. Experience working on remote, hard rock (tundra) projects. Hands-on experience operating large earthmoving equipment, including loaders, dozers, haul trucks, graders, and excavators. Heavy civil earthworks experience is mandatory, and your career focus must be in the civil earthworks industry.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Heavy civil project experience is required.
  • Experience with earthworks and all types of heavy equipment.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work at remote sites on a rotational schedule.
  • Hands-on experience operating large earthmoving equipment, including loaders, dozers, haul trucks, graders, and excavators.
  • Heavy civil earthworks experience is mandatory, and your career focus must be in the civil earthworks industry.
  • Experience leading teams of up to 50 workers, including heavy equipment operators, labourers, and field staff.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors project performance and provides recommendations to help achieve project scope, budget, and schedule objectives.
  • Plans work effectively and supervises crews to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Monitors equipment availability and utilization to maximize productivity and project results.
  • Works closely with clients to ensure concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.
  • Reviews and approves purchase requisitions.
  • Prepares accurate and timely daily and weekly reports.
  • Ensures employees are properly trained for their assigned duties and that records are maintained effectively.
  • Identifies project manpower requirements and makes recommendations to the Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Ensures site-specific safety orientation and training are completed before new employees begin regular duties.
  • Conducts regular safety meetings.
  • Recommends equipment replacements, additions, removals, and modifications, and ensures required maintenance is completed.
  • Supports incident investigations in collaboration with the Safety Advisor, as required.
  • Participates in project and job planning activities.
