Superintendent (Heavy Civil/Highway Construction)

About The Position

Trumbull Corporation is seeking Superintendents to support major heavy civil and highway construction projects in the Pittsburgh region. The Superintendent supervises, coordinates, schedules, and oversees employees, equipment, and subcontractors for a specific type of work on an overall project, such as structures or mass excavation. The role works with Project Superintendents, other Superintendents, Foremen, Project Engineers, and Project Managers to plan and manage construction activities safely, efficiently, to specifications, and within established budgets.

Requirements

Be familiar with project plans and understand the work being directed.
Have experience constructing the type of work for which the Superintendent is responsible.
Have the experience and knowledge to change construction methods when budgets are not being met.
Have excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to deal with people.

Responsibilities

Work with the Project Superintendent to plan craft activities, including construction methods, equipment, manpower, and materials.
Coordinate work with other Superintendents to ensure efficient use of labor and equipment on the project.
Review plans before work begins and identify errors or potential cost-saving changes.
Maintain awareness of budgets for the work being managed.
Monitor the craft's compliance with safety regulations.
Coordinate with Project Engineers to ensure materials are delivered when needed.
Supervise Foremen to ensure work is performed safely and professionally, meets specifications, and stays within established budgets.
Work with Foremen and the Project Manager to address scope or quantity changes through Change Orders and properly document Extra Work.
Work effectively with Inspectors and Owners to help projects proceed harmoniously.
