About The Position

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Superintendent to join their project team. This role will oversee an 11-story, multi-family apartment building with 428 apartment units and a 4-level parking garage in Washington, DC. The Superintendent is responsible for all field operations, including coordinating subcontractor work, implementing the Safety/Zero Harm program, and supervising all field construction activities. This position shares responsibility with the project manager for budget development, preconstruction phase participation, and ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget, and according to company policies. The Superintendent will also manage and mentor assistant superintendents and other field personnel.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience with a General Contractor, with focus on residential or base building/ commercial office projects.
  • Demonstrates solid presentation skills and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Exhibits commitment to quality by evaluating project-related processes and making necessary changes, using customer input to make improvements, and meeting or exceeding internal and external customer expectations.
  • Demonstrates proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools, such as email, internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook).

Nice To Haves

  • B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Renovation experience preferred
  • Ability to utilize P6 scheduling software a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all field operations, including the coordination of subcontractors’ work.
  • Ensure implementation of the Safety/Zero Harm program for the job site.
  • Supervise all field construction work by subcontractors and self-performed work.
  • Share responsibility with the project manager for developing the project budget.
  • Actively participate in the preconstruction phase.
  • Ensure the project is built on time, within budget, and according to company policies and procedures.
  • Manage and mentor assistant superintendents and other field personnel.
