About The Position

Ajax Building Company, part of STO Building Group, is seeking a hands-on construction leader to direct day-to-day field operations. The Superintendent manages craft and subcontractor teams and helps ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to client standards. The role oversees the total construction effort, coordinates on-site functions, supports project management with technical and procedural matters, and is accountable for craft productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance. Ajax Building Company delivers complex construction projects across the Southeast, including work in K–12, higher education, justice, municipal, healthcare, mission critical, and other institutional markets. Requirements

5–8+ years of supervisory experience in the construction field.
Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.
Thorough knowledge of construction technology, equipment, and methods.
Thorough knowledge of safety requirements.
Ability to motivate employees and handle situations that arise on a project.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field.

Responsibilities

Hire, train, evaluate, and terminate craft personnel in accordance with company policies, procedures, and practices.
Supervise craft employees and other contractors to ensure construction follows the design, budget, schedule, and contract requirements.
Plan, coordinate, and supervise on-site functions, including interfaces with client representatives and other contractors.
Assist project management with drawing interpretations and recommend construction methods and equipment.
Provide technical assistance and interpret drawings; recommend construction methods and equipment as needed.
Authorize and approve project personnel transactions, purchase requisitions, and field design change requests as applicable.
Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, and standards.
Ensure on-site personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, and other requirements; document violations and notify project management.
Work with the Safety Director to maintain safety awareness and enforce Ajax Building Company's Safety Policy.
Assume responsibility for craft productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance.
Perform or supervise building layout and field engineering.
Promote a safe work environment and implement corrective actions as required.
