About The Position

The Superintendent is responsible for the overall field supervision, coordination, and execution of heavy civil construction projects. This individual serves as the primary on-site leader and is accountable for safety, quality, productivity, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and project execution. The Superintendent works closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Owners, Inspectors, and Subcontractors to successfully deliver projects on time and within budget while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards. Projects may include: Heavy highway and roadway construction Bridges and structures Transit and rail projects Utility installation and relocation Excavation and earthwork Site development Concrete and structural work Airport and transportation infrastructure projects

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 15+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
  • Minimum 10+ years of Superintendent experience with a General Contractor.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Experience managing projects valued at $10 million to $250+ million preferred.
  • Experience with self-perform work strongly preferred.
  • Candidates should have experience in several of the following areas: Excavation and earthwork operations, Utility installation, Storm and sanitary sewer systems, Water mains, Roadway and highway construction, Reinforced concrete structures, Structural steel erection, Bridges and retaining walls, Rail and transit construction, Airport infrastructure, Traffic control and maintenance of traffic, Site logistics and phased construction.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise all daily construction activities.
  • Coordinate self-perform crews, foremen, subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment.
  • Plan and execute work in accordance with project schedules and contract requirements.
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential schedule impacts.
  • Develop and implement recovery plans when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, permits, and owner requirements.
  • Lead daily planning meetings and weekly coordination meetings.
  • Develop and maintain short-interval and look-ahead schedules.
  • Track manpower, equipment utilization, and production rates.
  • Coordinate delivery of materials, equipment, and subcontractor resources.
  • Minimize delays and maximize project efficiency.
  • Promote and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
  • Verify that all work is completed in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with project management to control labor, equipment, and material costs.
  • Monitor productivity and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Track quantities and assist with project forecasting.
  • Minimize rework and prevent costly field errors.
  • Serve as the primary field contact for owners, inspectors, engineers, and consultants.
  • Prepare and maintain daily reports, safety documentation, quantity tracking, equipment logs, inspection records and schedule updates.
