Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory position in the construction industry with experience in heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with bridge construction.
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.

  • Experience working on a large, multi-disciplinary, joint venture team is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Promote, lead and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors and consultants in compliance with the project’s Environmental Health and Safety Program and provincial occupational health and safety legislation.
  • Promote safety in all activities and engage in safe work plan development, hazard assessments, FLRAs and mentorship with crew.
  • Provide guidance to team members by leading safety meetings and inspections.
  • Provide daily directions for crew allocation, equipment resourcing and material handling.
  • Track and report project, quality control, resource requirements
  • Drive quality, efficiency and productivity of work crews.
  • Direct Foreperson(s) on productivity issues and monitor work performance, working with the Foreman and crews to overcome challenges.
  • Follow project plans and budget while ensuring the Superintendent, Foreperson and crews perform to meet production goals.
  • Assist Foreperson(s) to translate drawings, specifications and work requirements into a prioritized work plan.
  • Understand the scope and sequencing of work, plan and prioritize the work, effectively redirecting crews and equipment to assign tasks and minimize downtime on sites.
  • Work with project team to identify equipment and labour resource requirements.
  • Build and maintain a strong functional team through instruction, training, coaching and team building.
  • Ensure work completed meets quality standards, that preparation and submittal of required reports, documentation and logs are completed.
  • Oversee the approval of daily production records and reporting on work progress, these include: Daily quality control inspections and checklists. Record and report of violations or disciplinary actions. HSE inspections and reports. Project specific forms/inspections/tracking as required. Approving field logs and ensuring submittal of field logs for each Foreperson is completed daily. Reviewing field logs with the Project manager/Leads to ensure accuracy of phase codes and reported items.
