About The Position

Plans, directs, and controls the water and sewer service center, coordinating work orders with other departments, engineers, and outside contractors ensuring the provision of uninterrupted portable water throughout the city.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
  • Knowledge of the materials used in water and wastewater treatment.

  • Knowledge of safety rules and O.S.H.A. regulations.

  • Thirty (30) college hours from an accredited college or university
  • At least nine (9) years of experience in water distribution/treatment systems of which two (2) years in supervising personnel
  • Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, assigns, and schedules subordinates; instructs and trains in proper methods and procedures, checks and approves work, conducts employee evaluations and makes hiring recommendations.
  • Assures employees complete jobs in progress such as: broken water lines, the installation of new water lines, maintenance of water meter and the inventory of the warehouse.
  • Receives complaints from citizens and makes efforts to solve problems and writing feed back.
  • Dispatches crews to emergency repair sites, and assigns crews to completion of construction projects.
  • Oversees employees maintenance on City vehicles, equipment and tools.
  • Receives all complaints from citizens and assures that problems are corrected.
  • Attends meetings with department directors and contractors to discuss paving and construction projects and the operation of water department.
  • Assists in the bi-annual physical inventory of departmental supplies.
  • Makes recommendations and maintains the budget process.
  • Prepares recommendations to budget process.
  • Performs related work as required.
