This role is based in Fort McMurray and supports a major turnaround project with rotational work schedules. Requirements

  • Extensive industrial construction experience in oil & gas or heavy industrial environments
  • Strong background in turnaround and shutdown execution with a focus on mechanical scopes
  • Proven leadership experience supervising mechanical trades, including pipefitters, welders, boilermakers, and millwrights
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems such as piping, vessels, and rotating equipment
  • Solid understanding of rigging practices and lift planning fundamentals
  • Demonstrated ability to lead crews in fast-paced, high-pressure industrial or turnaround settings
  • Strong proficiency in interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and mechanical work packages
  • Effective leader with strong communication, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety excellence and HSE program leadership

Responsibilities

  • Lead field execution of mechanical scopes during turnarounds, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery
  • Supervise and coordinate multi-disciplinary crews (pipefitters, welders, boilermakers, millwrights)
  • Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems, vessels, rotating equipment, and mechanical components
  • Plan and execute rigging and lifting activities in compliance with safety standards
  • Drive daily planning, crew assignments, and workface coordination across disciplines
  • Monitor progress, productivity, and performance, proactively addressing schedule or cost impacts
  • Champion HSE compliance by leading safety meetings, toolbox talks, and field observations
  • Coordinate resources and ensure quality control while communicating effectively with stakeholders and supporting reporting and planning activities
