About The Position

The Superintendent - Pulp role is responsible for championing safety efforts, ensuring safe work practices, and building a resilient safety program. This position involves the efficient operation and management of the Pulp and Woodyard Departments. The Pulp area includes 3 Kamyr Digesters, 5 Washlines, Chip supply, and Turpentine recovery systems. The Woodyard area includes two wood lines with various equipment such as cranes, debarking drums, and chippers. The role also focuses on providing leadership and resources to support engagement and a high-performance work team, championing the 1:1 process, and developing direct reports. A key aspect is understanding customer satisfaction and ensuring products meet specifications. The Superintendent will take initiative to proactively address issues, ensure communication flow, lead goal setting and performance management, understand environmental impacts, set clear expectations, and develop excellent manufacturing systems. This role also includes managing department budgets and annual outage spend.

Requirements

  • Technical Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience
  • 8-10+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a Pulp mill.
  • Proven Safety Leadership Skills
  • Proven Leadership of hourly employees, preferably in a union environment
  • Demonstrated competence to work with minimum supervision and with all levels of mill management.
  • Strong technical and troubleshooting skills

  • Setting clear expectations and holding employees accountable for meeting them.
  • Developing and maintaining excellent manufacturing systems.
