About The Position

Responsible for supervising and driving plant process optimization for the functional area assigned. This includes maintaining a safe and secure work environment, supporting the food safety system, ensuring efficient operations, managing resources, supervising team members, establishing maintenance procedures, and managing the budget for the assigned process area. The role involves analyzing systems and processes, identifying improvement opportunities, developing corrective action plans, and participating in the design and oversight of new systems and processes to enhance plant performance in safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction. Additionally, the position requires data collection for reporting, coordinating maintenance techniques to reduce costs, ensuring adequate supplies and parts, arranging for equipment maintenance and upgrades, and training employees on maintenance programs. The role also involves computer use, adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), communication with environmental management regarding activities and emergencies, implementing contingency plans, and maintaining environmental documentation. Compliance with safety practices, waste minimization, and environmental regulations for handling materials and wastes is essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of job-related experience in an industrial environment with a focus on chemical processes and equipment.
  • Ability to apply intensive and diversified evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard plant production, chemical process, and warehouse techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Ability to negotiate with contractors for facilities/building maintenance.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic, geometric, and algebraic calculations.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
  • Maintains an awareness and complies with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements by attending scheduled training sessions.
  • Ability to operate and functionally use a computer.
  • Must follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct.
  • Must maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills.
  • Working knowledge of production processes, product specifications and technology of equipment, and generally accepted supervisory practices and procedures.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a safe and secure work environment, including correcting unsafe acts/conditions, facilitating safety meetings, performing safety inspections, and investigating accidents.
  • Supporting the development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the food safety system.
  • Ensuring round the clock efficient operations for the assigned process area.
  • Managing resources and activities for the assigned functional area or process.
  • Supervising process team members.
  • Establishing maintenance procedures on equipment, including planning, budgeting, execution, and periodic review.
  • Planning, administering, and managing the budget for the assigned process area.
  • Conducting system and process analysis, identifying improvement opportunities, and making recommendations to management.
  • Diagnosing problem areas and developing and implementing corrective action plans.
  • Participating in designing and overseeing new systems and processes to improve plant performance.
  • Collecting and organizing data to generate and maintain reports and schedules.
  • Coordinating and applying maintenance techniques to monitor and reduce maintenance and repair costs.
  • Arranging for the maintenance of adequate levels of supplies, materials, and parts.
  • Arranging for all equipment in the area to be properly maintained and upgraded as needed.
  • Arranging for training of employees in proper maintenance programs and procedures.
  • Accessing, inputting, and retrieving information from a computer.
  • Initiating, reviewing, mastering, and following all standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Communicating with the emergency coordinate (EC) or Environmental Focal Point/Environmental Manager (EFP/EM) regarding environmental management activities.
  • Understanding and responding effectively to EC directions during emergencies.
  • Implementing contingency plans.
  • Completing and maintaining environmental documentation.
  • Reporting to the EC, EFP, or EM on the status of assigned responsibilities.
  • Complying with established job safety practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Recognizing waste streams and minimizing waste generation.
  • Understanding and practicing proper accumulation and storage requirements for wastes.
  • Complying with environmental regulations when using, dispensing, or handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials and wastes.
