Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance & Support Operations, the Superintendent, Maintenance Operations, role emphasizes electrical and instrumentation systems while maintaining oversight of fixed plant mechanical activities during cross-shift coverage. This role will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of all electrical services for the Surface and Underground Operations. Superintendent, Maintenance Operations will oversee all electrical and instrumentation activities within the mining operation. This includes planning, coordinating, and supervising installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, instrumentation, and automation equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mining assets.

Requirements

  • A positive and proactive attitude towards safety is essential.
  • Ability to work in remote and challenging environments
  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or related field.
  • Journeyperson certificate in Electrical will be considered.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in a supervisor capacity.
  • Preferably experience in the mining industry.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provide cross shift coverage for mechanical maintenance planning and execution
  • Manage and lead E&I teams, including electricians, instrument technicians, and contractors
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for electrical and instrumentation systems
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations for the electrical & fixed plant departments
  • Make recommendations to improve efficiency and work methods
  • Actively participates in employee training
  • Establishes time and costs estimates for the electrical department
  • Responsible for all the winter road electrical requirements
  • Provides technical guidance and assistance concerning work methods and the use of equipment for employees
  • Maintains computerized information systems while continuously seeking ways to develop these systems
  • Responsible for forecasting and budgeting for all of maintenance department with specific responsibility for the electrical budget
  • Maintains inventory criticality and always seeking areas for improvement
  • Drive root cause analysis for failures and implement corrective actions
  • Responsible for keeping electrical department records current
  • Ensure adherence to electrical codes, instrumentation standards, and mine safety regulations
  • Ensure the electrical systems are continuously up to date and adhere with the highest safety standards
  • Work with contractors on a regular basis to ensure that all electrical equipment is up to code
  • Complete line drawings
  • In charge of updating the schematics as needed
  • Generate reports on equipment performance, downtime, and maintenance KPIs
  • Identify opportunities for energy efficiency, automation, and reliability improvements
  • Any other duties as assigned by the department
