About The Position

The Superintendent is responsible for supervising craft employees assigned to a particular construction discipline work area. They actively support the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values,” representing the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.” The role involves planning and supervising work activities, determining methods of construction, safety procedures, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, and work schedules, while documenting actual hours worked. This position requires coordination of assigned work with different crafts, company departments, and/or other contractors, and maintaining liaison with safety, engineering, estimating, and planning departments to ensure work complies with safety policies, drawings, specifications, and schedules. The Superintendent will assist in resolving construction problems and safety issues, conduct accident investigations, and maintain communication with the HR Department to resolve manpower requisition issues. They will monitor craft compliance with the project safety program, document issues, and ensure corrective measures are implemented. Additionally, the role involves maintaining liaison with other departments (Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and the project schedule. The Superintendent will conduct field safety audits and maintain a complete understanding of the Corporate Safety Manual and requirements. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as directed.

Requirements

  • 6+ years’ experience in similar facility, including construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures
  • 1+ years’ experience supervising craft employees
  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling cost control
  • Ability to supervise large groups
  • Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good computer skills including MS Word and Excel
  • Work includes field inspections and audits and the physical ability to conduct these field duties
  • Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project via turnstile access
  • Extensive walking in and around a construction site
  • Tasks at heights including climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, and working on uneven surfaces
  • Working in small or confined spaces
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. fall protection harness, hard hat, etc.)
  • Ability to be fit tested for and use a respirator
  • Must be able to perform work tasks in hot and cold temperatures
