About The Position

BLUvera is currently seeking a Superintendent I. The candidate will have excellent proven leadership skills that can manage a manufacturing plant within the construction industry. Must be able to create and drive schedules, manage trade partners, hire craft laborers, material handling, and have a builders mindset. Must have construction experience and be able to teach craft effectively with proven results. Must be willing to be at the St. Paul, MN facility M-F minimum from 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. daily. VISA Sponsorships are not offered for this position. Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status, 0-1, TN, CPT, OPT, etc.). We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Requirements

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or 10 years trade experience
• Minimum 5 years construction management or related experience
• Current driver’s license
• Ability to fulfill responsibilities for multiple, complex projects
• Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks
• Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
• Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills
• Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
• Active listening skills and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback
• Ability to travel up to 100%

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement to ensure all materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule
• Review construction and contract documents for completeness and constructability
• Coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers, resolving discrepancies
• Develop and manage project schedules, including three and six-week look-ahead schedules
• Develop a site logistics plan and lead the utilization of Mortenson tools and equipment
• Collaborate with project partner superintendents
• Conduct on-site project orientations, pre-construction planning sessions, and project site meetings
• Supervise project partners, craft foremen, and crews; interview, hire, transfer, and dismiss craft team members as needed
• Coach and mentor assistant superintendents, craft team members, and other project team members
• Ensure proper task coding of work hours on timecards, track work progress and craft productivity
• Handle craft team member training and conduct career development discussions
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and manage performance
• Provide high-level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance for the project and team members
• Recognize and mitigate unfavorable working conditions and seek opportunities to improve processes and procedures
