About The Position

M.C. Dean is seeking a Superintendent 1 to join their Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. This role involves overseeing and managing all phases of construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to high standards of quality and safety. The Superintendent will coordinate subcontractors, manage site safety, ensure compliance with permits and regulations, and maintain effective communication with project stakeholders. The SES unit focuses on designing, engineering, integrating, operating, and maintaining electronic security services, including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for various clients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with 10+ Years of Experience
  • At least seven (7) years of progressive experience in installation, integration, and testing of electronic security projects valued at more than $500k
  • Experience in the Security Industry
  • At least two (2) years' experience managing security projects as a Project Manager, Superintendent, or Project Foreman
  • Experience installing conduit and wiring systems
  • Experience with head end programming and testing of Access Control and Video Management Systems
  • Common knowledge of basic Network Infrastructure
  • Experience working with management systems such as scheduling, job cost reports, estimating, safety, documentation requirements, and quality control.
  • Experience overseeing and approving monthly job cost updates, productivity reports, and quarterly cash flow projections
  • Proficiency in the Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling method
  • Must have a history of completing projects under the estimated hours
  • Requires reliable attendance at customer site during work hours required by customer
  • Requires the ability to work a flexible schedule that includes occasional nights and weekends

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and managing all phases of construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Coordinating and supervising subcontractors, scheduling, site safety, compliance with permits and regulations, and effective communication with project stakeholders.
  • Utilizing and understanding project safety plans (JHA, AHA, PFW) and developing comprehensive building schedules with a 12+ week look ahead.
  • Performing quality reviews of M.C. Dean-produced design documentation, analyzing and interpreting complete drawing packages to evaluate constructability.
  • Conducting B1 take-offs, managing daily material, and performing material and labor planning to update 4-week look ahead forecasts.
  • Supporting logistics planning for personnel and equipment, tracking project metrics including time and materials through unit tracking and field quality control.
  • Ensuring all permits, licenses, and inspection filings are identified and obtained before performing work.
  • Managing crew activities, keeping them on task, ensuring work is installed on time, monitoring overtime hours, and determining labor requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance and employee satisfaction in coordination with HR, monitoring employee BTA points, and conducting interviews to hire applicable candidates.
  • Participating in weekly resource allocation meetings, creating resource-loaded schedules (including manpower, material, equipment), and ensuring the project has an accurate org chart.
  • Completing project documentation per M.C. Dean standards, including Change Orders, RFIs, Detailed Daily Reports, and ensuring proper documentation return to site QC representatives.
  • Partnering with engineers to drive the prefab process, developing project prefab plans and schedules, and managing the pre-fabrication process based on the project schedule without over-ordering.
  • Following procedures for responding and reporting accidents and incidents, leading daily ORM meetings, and ensuring team safety by reviewing and storing all AHA’s related to the project scope.
  • Participating in configuration and programming of various systems, managing base switch configurations, and executing PITCO plans to include testing to verify high quality and identify areas for process improvement.
  • Completing quality control inspections of work completed, following established QC plans and checklists, and ensuring work is completed per applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
  • Overseeing the installation of system raceway, cabling, equipment racks, grounding, and building out of communication and security rooms per applicable standards, and terminating and testing system components.
  • Communicating consistently with GC, owner, project teams, and other trades, engaging in scheduled project meetings, and serving as a reliable contact for field operations with customer representatives.
