About The Position

Youth Development Professionals involved in our Food Program prepare and serve nutritious meals each day for children ages six to eighteen. They play an active role in protecting our youth by practicing safe food handling and cleanliness. Proper and adequate nutrition aids in our three priority outcomes: academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. Youth Development Professionals help to ensure that every Club Member has an Optimal Club Experience. Successful Youth Development Professionals have a passion for serving others and contributing to the wellbeing of the community at large. They have the ability to connect with young people and offer supportive relationships. They are team players willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that Club Members are safe, recognized, and given the opportunity to learn new skills.

Requirements

  • Willing to acquire and maintain a current Food Handler Permit
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time (5 hours consecutively)
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs sporadically throughout work shift
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, reach, stretch, etc. throughout a regular work shift
  • 18 years and over

Responsibilities

  • Establish rapport with youth ages 6-18 and provide fun, meaningful meal services
  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks daily according to food program requirements, menus, and product provided from available inventory and donated goods
  • Monitor food inventory and communicate which food items are available and need to be utilized
  • Complete required daily meal service records and documentation, with both paper and online records
  • Ensure kitchen operations meet Utah Health Department standards and Food Bank meal service requirements
  • Perform a variety of cleaning duties: Clean food preparation and service areas (sweep, mop, clean sinks and counters), Dishwashing, Clean cafeteria tables with approved bleach solutions, Wash towels and aprons, Periodic cleaning of storage areas, refrigerators, freezer, oven, stove, and shelving
  • Follow strict hygiene and safety practices
