This posting is for a part-time, non-benefited, non-exempt staff position for a day shift summer counselor. The Horsemanship School Riding Counselor oversees the students during arena ride time and barn duties. The counselor is responsible for assisting the instructors and for ensuring the safety of the riders. The Horsemanship School Riding Counselor works with riding instructors to create an educational and learning experience for the youth equestrians. The counselor also works with other staff to facilitate the flow of the lessons and demonstrations. The Horsemanship School Riding Counselor will gain experience to help further their abilities in a communication related field. The counselor will also develop leadership and communication skills valuable in most professional fields. The Horsemanship School Riding Counselor is able to solve issues involving students and their horses. The counselor demonstrates ability to teach riders how to build a better relationship with their horse. The Horsemanship School Riding Counselor must conduct themselves in a professional manner, yet make the experience fun and enjoyable for the youth. The counselor is able to explain specific directions and convey information to youth of different cognitive developments.
