About The Position

Undergraduate Peer Educators at Chatham University serve as tutors and Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders, assisting Chatham students in mastering course content. Tutors provide one-on-one sessions, addressing various class-related concerns from topic review and homework clarification to project brainstorming and test preparation, always tailoring sessions to individual student needs. SI Leaders conduct regularly scheduled group review sessions, covering weekly course content. They are encouraged to attend their assigned classes to align review sessions with instructor material and work closely with instructors. This is a summer position, and student employees must adhere to specific work hour limits: a maximum of 20 hours per week across all campus jobs during the academic year, and no more than 980 work hours per calendar year. Student jobs do not automatically renew for subsequent academic years or summers. Requirements

  • Be an undergraduate student at Chatham University
  • Be able to help students master course content
  • Current student employees should notify their other manager(s) if working multiple jobs on campus at the same time
  • Students may not work more than 20 hours per week (combined between all campus jobs) during the academic year
  • Students may not exceed 980 work hours per calendar year
  • Supplemental Instruction Leaders must be able to sit in on their assigned class if their schedule allows

Responsibilities

  • Meet with students for one-on-one sessions (Tutors)
  • Help students with class-related concerns such as reviewing topics, going over homework confusion, brainstorming larger projects, or reviewing for tests (Tutors)
  • Tailor sessions to what the student needs at the time (Tutors)
  • Hold regularly scheduled review sessions (Supplemental Instructor Leaders)
  • Go over the content that their assigned class discussed that week (Supplemental Instructor Leaders)
  • Sit in on their assigned class (if schedule allows) to see specifically what the instructor has gone over that week (Supplemental Instructor Leaders)
  • Help students with individual needs (Supplemental Instructor Leaders)
  • Review content on a regular basis (Supplemental Instructor Leaders)
  • Work more closely with the instructors (Supplemental Instructor Leaders)
